In Your 50′s+

Hopefully, you have spent the last decade developing a great skin care regime and taken some treatments to alleviate trouble spots. In your 50s and beyond, any skin care issues that have become apparent in your 40s will continue, but with greater notice. In these decades, we seek to maintain skin health and with diligence gain some modest improvements. Menopause can bring many changes to our skin including acne and rosacea. Hyperpigmentation, broken capillaries (telangiectasias) and pre-cancerous spots from sun damage are all part of the makeup of aging skin. Facial volume loss also becomes more apparent during these years.

Treatments

Using a volumizing filler such as Radiesse can create a more youthful appearance by restoring volume, diminishing wrinkles and stimulating collagen growth. Dermal Fillers (Juvederm, Radiesse) used in conjunction with Botox Cosmetic® can create a more relaxed, refreshed and rejuvenated face. Specific laser treatments (such as Cutera’s 3D Rejuvenation) combine three laser treatments to address skin surface issues (redness, blotchiness, brown spots), mid-dermis issues such as pore size, deep redness, soften fine lines and wrinkles and finally heating the deep dermis to reduce skin laxity and to stimulate collagen.

Daily

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is a key to good skin health in this age group. Regular exercise, a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, lots of water to hydrate the skin are all important factors. Always wear sun protection SPF 20 – 50 with both UVA and UVB protection. Stay with a deep cleansing milk as your daily cleaner. Protect your collagen with the antioxidant properties of Vitamin A and C serums. Enjoy life!
