What to Know About Waxing

legsIt is this time of year when the weather gets cooler and we begin to wear more pants and our razors stop getting used as frequently. Now is the time to be thinking about hair removal and how you can  maximize your winter routine to reduce your hair growth.

When you start waxing, the hairs need time to be trained to come all in one cycle instead of 3 cycles which should happen within the first 3-4 times waxing (3-4 months). If you wait until May or June to begin waxing your hair cycles will not yet be combined into one cycle resulting in your hair coming back quicker, which is not ideal for summer. Unlike shaved hairs, which have a blunt abrasive edge and return as quickly as the same day to a couple days later, the waxed hairs will be soft and have a fine point. With continued monthly waxing the hair will eventually stop returning.

To obtain the best results follow these guidelines:
• Do not shave for 3-4 weeks prior to waxing
• Exfoliate and moisturize the day before waxing
• 1cm hair growth
• Be consistent — Get waxed every 4-5 weeks like clock-work!
• To avoid ingrown hairs, exfoliate (PFB roll on) and moisturize (Celeazome Body Lotion)
• After waxing: do not exercise, go in a pool/hot tub/sauna (could make you break out)
• After waxing be sure to avoid the sun or wear SPF
